Frequently asked questions
- What is lorem ipsum?
- Scrambled Latin used as placeholder text since the 1500s. It comes from a passage by Cicero written in 45 BC, and it lets people judge a layout without being distracted by the words.
- What does lorem ipsum mean?
- Nothing, really. The words are fragments of Latin, so they look like text without meaning anything, which keeps attention on the design.
- Can I copy it as HTML?
- Yes. "Copy as HTML" wraps each paragraph in <p> tags, or list items in a <ul> list, ready to paste into a web page.
- Can I use lorem ipsum for free?
- Yes. The original text is centuries old and free for anyone to use.
