Frequently asked questions
- How do I calculate a tip?
- Multiply the bill by the tip percentage and divide by 100. A 15% tip on 80 is 80 × 15 ÷ 100 = 12.
- How much should I tip?
- It depends on the country and the service. In the US, 15 to 20% is common at restaurants; in many other countries, service is included or a small round-up is usual.
- How does splitting the bill work?
- The bill and tip are added together and divided equally between everyone. Each person's share of the tip is shown too.
- What does rounding up do?
- It rounds each person's share up to the next whole amount, so nobody needs coins. The tip grows by the difference.
