Unix Timestamp Converter (Epoch Converter)
Convert a Unix timestamp to a readable date and time in any time zone, or turn a date into a timestamp. Paste a whole column to convert many at once. Seconds, milliseconds and microseconds are detected automatically, and the current epoch time ticks live at the top.

How to use the Unix Timestamp Converter
- Paste a timestamp to see it as a date in your time zone, UTC and ISO 8601.
- Pick another time zone if you need one.
- To go the other way, enter a date and time and copy the timestamp in seconds or milliseconds.
- To convert a list, paste one timestamp or date per line under "Convert many at once" and copy the table.
Frequently asked questions
- What is a Unix timestamp?
- The number of seconds since 00:00:00 UTC on 1 January 1970, known as the Unix epoch. It's how most computers and databases store a moment in time, independent of time zones.
- Is my timestamp in seconds or milliseconds?
- A 10-digit timestamp is usually seconds and a 13-digit one milliseconds. The converter detects this from the size of the number, and you can set the unit yourself.
- How do I convert a timestamp to a date?
- Paste it into "Timestamp to date". You'll see the date in your time zone, in UTC, in ISO 8601 format and how long ago or ahead it is.
- Can I convert many timestamps at once?
- Yes. Paste a column of timestamps or dates, one per line, and each line is converted to seconds, ISO 8601 in UTC and your chosen time zone. Copy the result straight into a spreadsheet.
- What is the year 2038 problem?
- Systems that store timestamps as signed 32-bit numbers run out on 19 January 2038 at 03:14:07 UTC. Modern systems use 64-bit numbers, which last for billions of years.
- Does daylight saving time matter?
- Timestamps themselves don't change with daylight saving. Converting to a local time applies that zone's rules for the date, which this tool does for you.
