How PF Calculator (EPF) compares

Your EPFO passbook
The passbook on the EPFO member portal shows what's actually in your account today. Use it for your starting balance, then this calculator to look ahead.
A spreadsheet
You can model EPF in a sheet, but the EPS split, the ceiling and the monthly interest take some care. The calculator does those sums as you type.

How to use PF Calculator (EPF)

  1. Enter your monthly basic pay + DA, your age, and the age you plan to retire.
  2. Add the pay rise you expect each year and, if you have one, your EPF balance from the passbook.
  3. Check your contribution (12% unless you add VPF), the interest rate, and whether you're in the pension scheme (EPS).
  4. Read your corpus at retirement, then scroll the table to see each year's money going in and the interest it earns.

Frequently asked questions

How much goes into my EPF each month?
You put in 12% of your basic pay + DA, and your employer matches it with 12%. But not all of your employer's share lands in EPF: 8.33% of your wages up to ₹25,000 goes to the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS), at most ₹2,083 a month, and the rest goes to EPF. On ₹20,000 basic + DA that's ₹2,400 from you, ₹734 from your employer into EPF and ₹1,666 into EPS.
What changed with the ₹25,000 wage ceiling?
From 17 September 2026 the EPFO wage ceiling went up from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 a month (notification S.O. 5109(E)). Anyone earning up to ₹25,000 basic + DA now has to be in EPF, EPS and EDLI, and the EPS share is worked out on wages up to ₹25,000, so it can be as much as ₹2,083 a month instead of ₹1,250. If you were enrolled on ₹15,000 while earning more, your contributions may rise too.
How is EPF interest calculated?
EPFO works out interest every month on your running balance and credits it once a year, at the end of the financial year. So it compounds yearly. The calculator does the same: your opening balance earns the full year, and each month's contribution starts earning from the following month. The rate for 2025-26 is 8.25%, ratified in June 2026. The 2026-27 rate isn't declared yet, so change the rate field to see a higher or lower one.
Why isn't the EPS money in my corpus?
Because it isn't yours to withdraw as a lump sum. The 8.33% that goes to EPS pays for a monthly pension from 58, worked out from your pensionable salary and years of service. The calculator shows how much went to EPS so you can see where your employer's 12% went, but only your EPF balance counts toward the corpus. EPS contributions stop at 58, and after that your employer's whole 12% goes into EPF.
What if my employer pays 12% only on ₹25,000?
Many employers limit their share to the wage ceiling when your basic + DA is higher. Pick "Up to ₹25,000" under "Employer's 12% is on" and the calculator caps your employer's share at ₹3,000 a month. Your own 12% stays on your full basic + DA. If you also contribute only on the ceiling, enter ₹25,000 as your basic + DA.
Do I pay tax on my EPF?
Mostly. EPF withdrawn after five years of continuous service is tax-free. But interest on your own contributions above ₹2.5 lakh a year (₹5 lakh if your employer doesn't contribute) is taxable each year, and so is an employer contribution above ₹7.5 lakh a year across EPF, NPS and superannuation. This calculator doesn't take tax off, so talk to a CA if you're near those limits.
How accurate is the corpus figure?
Treat it as a sensible guide, not a promise. It assumes the same interest rate every year, a steady pay rise, and that you stay in a job with EPF until you retire. Real life wobbles: rates change, raises come in jumps, and you may withdraw for a house or an emergency. Run it again each year with your new balance and you'll stay close.
Is PF Calculator (EPF) free?
Yes. It's free to use, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
