Frequently asked questions
Do I have to turn the sound on?
No. Every scene is written out in full, every sound has a caption, and the story is the same with the narration, the ambience and the sound effects all off. Sound starts only after you press Begin or Continue.
How long is a story?
One way through is between fifteen and twenty-five short scenes, about three to five minutes of listening. There are forty-one scenes in all, so a second way through is a different story.
How many endings are there?
Three. Which one you reach depends on what you pick up, who you trust and when you decide to leave. The Endings page shows a hint for each one you have not found.
Is my place saved?
Yes. The scene you are on, what you are carrying, and every scene, choice and ending you have found are saved on this device. Sign in with a free EveryApp account and they follow you to your other devices, and the endings you found on each device are joined.
Is the narration a live voice or made as I play?
Neither. The narration, the ambience and the sound effects were made once and are files inside the game. They play on your device. Nothing is generated while you play, and no sound is sent anywhere.
Can I play offline?
Yes. Install it and the whole story, with its sound, works with no connection.
Can I play on a phone?
Yes, it is laid out for a phone held upright, with large buttons and the story map, notebook, endings and sound controls under your thumb.
Is it suitable for children?
It is a quiet mystery written for teens and adults. Nothing is graphic, but it is eerie, and it has a storm, a locked tower and a voice on a telephone.
Can I change the speed of the voice?
Yes. Under Sound you can set the narration to 0.8 times, normal or 1.25 times speed, and turn the narration, the ambience and the sound effects on or off, each with its own volume.
Is the story in my language?
The story and its narration are in English: it is one story, written in English. The menus, buttons, notebook, map and this page are translated into twenty more languages, and the text is always on the screen, so you can read it at your own pace.
Is Voiced Story Adventure free?
Yes. It's free to use, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
