Frequently asked questions

What JSON can be converted?
An array of objects works best: each object becomes a row and each key a column. A single object, or an object holding one array (like an API response), works too.
What happens to nested objects and lists?
Nested objects become columns joined with dots, such as address.city. Lists of simple values are joined with commas in one cell; anything more complex is kept as JSON text.
Excel puts everything in one column. Why?
In some countries Excel expects semicolons instead of commas. Choose the semicolon separator and open the file again.
Are numbers kept as numbers when converting CSV to JSON?
Yes, by default 42 becomes a number and true becomes true. Values with leading zeros, like zip codes, stay as text so nothing is lost.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The conversion happens on your device.
Is the JSON to CSV Converter free?
Yes. It's free to use, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
