How to play Mahjong Solitaire
- Find two identical tiles that are free: nothing on top of them, and open on the left or the right.
- Click both to take them away. Any flower matches any flower, and any season matches any season.
- Use Hint to see a pair, Undo to take back a move, or Shuffle to re-deal the tiles that are left.
- Clear all 144 tiles to win.
Frequently asked questions
- Can every game be won?
- Yes. Each deal is built from a finished game backwards, so there is always a way to clear it. Choices along the way can still lead to a dead end, which is where Undo and Shuffle help.
- Which tiles can I take?
- A tile is free when no tile lies on top of it and at least one of its long sides, left or right, is open. Blocked tiles are shaded so you can spot the free ones.
- Is this the four-player Mahjong game?
- No. This is Mahjong Solitaire, the one-player tile-matching game played with Mahjong tiles.
- Is my best time saved?
- Yes, in this browser on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
