Frequently asked questions
- Which format should I choose for a Kindle?
- AZW3 keeps the most of a book's layout on Kindle devices. MOBI is the older Kindle format and works on every Kindle. If you use Send to Kindle, send an EPUB: Amazon converts it for you.
- Can I convert a book I bought?
- Only if it has no copy protection (DRM). Books with DRM can't be converted, and we don't remove it.
- How well does PDF to EPUB work?
- A PDF has fixed pages, so the words come across but the layout may not. Books that started as EPUB, MOBI or AZW3 convert best.
- Are pictures and chapters kept?
- Yes. Chapters, the table of contents, pictures and the cover carry over between EPUB, MOBI, AZW3 and PDF. Plain text keeps only the words.
- What happens to my files?
- Your book is deleted as soon as it's converted. Your new file is available to download for 1 hour, then it's deleted too. On a paid plan, your files and results are kept in My files until you delete them.
