Frequently asked questions
- What is box breathing?
- Box breathing is four equal steps: breathe in for 4, hold for 4, breathe out for 4 and hold for 4. It's a steady, even rhythm many people use to stay calm and focused.
- How do I do 4-7-8 breathing?
- Breathe in quietly through your nose for 4 counts, hold for 7, then breathe out slowly through your mouth for 8. Start with a few rounds. The app counts each step for you.
- Is it safe to hold my breath?
- Short holds are fine for most people, but stop if you feel dizzy or unwell. Skip the holds if you are pregnant or have a heart or lung condition: one switch takes them out of every pattern.
- Can I use it without looking at the screen?
- Yes. Turn on soft sound cues, and on phones that support it, a short vibration at each step, so you can follow along with your eyes closed.
- Who can see my sessions?
- Only you. They're kept in your EveryApp account with your permission, never sold or used for ads, and you can download or delete them any time.
- Is Breathing Exercise free?
- Yes. It's free to use, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
