How to play Pocket Freighter
- Press Start. You have a small ship, 1,000 credits of play money and 100 days.
- Check the market: each planet makes some goods cheaply and pays well for others.
- Tap a planet on the map to see how many days and how much fuel the trip takes, then fly there and sell.
- Watch the galaxy news: a famine, a festival or a mining boom sends prices soaring or tumbling.
- Upgrade your cargo hold and engine at a shipyard. Your net worth after 100 days is your score.
Frequently asked questions
- What happens when pirates show up?
- You choose: pay what they ask, try to flee (one die, and a better engine helps) or fight (two dice, 8 or more wins a bounty). Lose, and they take part of your cargo.
- Are the credits real money?
- No. Credits are play money with no value: they can't be bought, cashed out or won.
- What if I run out of fuel?
- Sell some cargo and refuel. If you have no fuel, no credits and nothing to sell, signal for help: a passing hauler shares enough fuel to reach the nearest planet, at the cost of a few days.
- Can I carry on later, and does it work on phones?
- Yes to both. Your career is saved in this browser after every move, and everything works with taps. On a keyboard, arrow keys pick a planet and Enter flies there.
- Where is my best score saved?
- In this browser on this device. Nothing is sent anywhere and there's no account to make.
- Is Pocket Freighter free?
- Yes. It's free to use, with no sign-up and nothing to install.
